August 2010 update

Hello everyone!

I'm back from running errands and so I thought I would write a quick update on what we're up to.

1. Lance started at UNLV on Monday. He has A LOT of homework but is happy with his decision to go into Healthcare Administration AND I am very proud of him :)
2. I have arranged my practicum placements with the Clark County School District. I am going to be observing at Foothill High School and Harmon Elementary. (Big thanks to my old x-c coach and Aunt Leisa for helping me!)
3. Chloe...chloe...chloe. She is doing wonderful! We pierced her ears. She is getting so big. About 13 lbs and 24 in long. She still has no hair, but that's ok. She grows out of her clothes before I realize that had even fit her! I will have to take inventory more often. She began rice cereal, whole wheat cereal, and oatmeal and we will start her on barley and mixed grain in the next couple weeks. In the middle of September we will begin the yellow-orange-red baby food. I am also still feeding her breastmilk :). It was worth all the effort to pump for so long. Just to prepare her for no breastmilk, we've started her on formula 2x a day. It's the same formula that I add to the breastmilk and her stomach has been just fine. No problems with any of the new food (just icky surprises for mom and dad in the diaper region). Our Dr. wants to keep track of her closely and is very hands on, which I am so grateful for. I was tired of seeing the Nurse Practioner or P.A. at our old office and having to explain her whole story every single time we went in. Dr. Alazard wants to see Chloe every 6 weeks.
4. I'm in the market for a babysitter for one day a week while I do my practicum. I'm planning on paying this person so if you know anyone interested...I'm interested.
5. We've been training for the St. George marathon all summer long. So far our longest run has been 16 miles (just 10 short of the real thing!).
6. I've joined a Las Vegas Ragnar Relay team and we are running in an awesome 190 mile race on Oct 22-23. It's a 24 hour race and you run it with a team of 12 people. Each of us will run 3 different legs of the race. I've been wanting to do this kind of a race for a long time and am excited for the opportunity to do so. I'm excited to make new friends and hopefully some running buddies from this. I bought a jogging stroller for a reason :)
7. We have loved living in Las Vegas. It is wonderful to be around so much family. I feel so spoiled!
8. The City of Henderson hired me for the summer to manage a pool and then teach classes during the school year.

Ok, I think that's it for the update. More current pictures to come. Thanks for reading!
